The Writing Group of Doom!

Room 5446 Rules

History
This writing group started in December of 2005; a spin-off from an English 320 (writing for young adults and children) taught by Carol Williams. For two years, now, we have met weekly to read, discuss, and encourage writing talent. Throughout the course of this time, we have lost and gained many members, have had a novel completely finished by one, have started many new stories, and have dusted off some old to breathe in new life. No one in this group is getting class credit, no one is being paid to do this. We meet because of friendship, the need for motivation, and the dedication to the writing arts. Our purpose is to help each other get ready for the submission of manuscripts with the goal of publication.

Guidelines
Typically, we ask that all members of the writing group abide by the accompanying documents - How To Critique and How To Be Critiqued. Also, members are not required to bring writing, though it is strongly encouraged and welcomed. Make sure to bring a pen or other writing utensil to write notes / comments where necessary.

When bringing a piece of writing, we ask that these guidelines be followed:
  1. Keep your writing to 5 pages, double-spaced (approximately 1,250 words).
  2. Bring 5 (or more) copies to share with the group. If you need assistance with this, please let Melissa know. If you do not bring copies, we will not critique your work!
As always, please respect your fellow group members and give the author (and reader) your full attention during their turn.
